This Large Ferro Rod features a carbon steel striker with a long leather lanyard, so that it's always ready when needed!

The Large 6-inch Ferrocerium Rod will provide thousands of high-temperature sparks to help get your fire started.  Toss it in your pack or carry it around your neck for quick access when an urgent fire is required.

The large ferro rod does not fit SlicKnives sheaths.

Caution - All commercially available ferro rods are coated with a protectant to prevent corrosion after they have been made.  Once the ferro rod has been scraped, the exposed iron in the rod will corrode over time when humidity or water is present.  A corroded ferro rod still works as a good fire starter, however, its rust can stain materials that are in contact with it. 

SlicKnives suggests storing a used ferro rod separately from fabrics and leather sheaths to protect against rust stains.  A thin layer of petroleum jelly can help protect a used ferro rod's surface while being stored and is easy to wipe off when the ferro rod is needed to start the next fire.

This Medium Ferro Rod features a carbon steel striker with a braided dark olive green paracord lanyard long enough for easy striking!

The Medium 4-inch Ferrocerium Rod will provide thousands of high-temperature sparks to help get your fire started.  Toss it in your pack or pocket for quick access!

The medium ferro rod does not fit SlicKnives sheaths.

Key Features:

• Provides thousands of sparks when being struck with the included carbon steel striker or via the back of a 90-spine of a knife
• The braided olive green paracord lanyard provides a larger grip, enough length to easily strike the rod, and nice 4 foot length of cordage if needed
• Impervious to water, so that it’s always ready – just wipe it dry, lay dry tinder in your fire set, and strike it to get a fire roaring
• The carbon steel striker includes an ergonomic polymer grip, is powder-coated black, has a scraper on one edge, and a flat edge for making spark fly

Caution - All commercially available ferro rods are coated with a protectant to prevent corrosion after they have been made.  Once the ferro rod has been scraped, the exposed iron in the rod will corrode over time when humidity or water is present.  A corroded ferro rod still works as a good fire starter, however, its rust can stain materials that are in contact with it. 

SlicKnives suggests storing a used ferro rod separately from fabrics and leather sheaths to protect against rust stains.  A thin layer of petroleum jelly can help protect a used ferro rod's surface while being stored and is easy to wipe off when the ferro rod is needed to start the next fire.

The Standard Ferrocerium Rod is designed to rain high-temperature sparks down on a fire set to help get things warmed up when in need. 

This replacement rod fits all SlicKnives sheaths.  It does not include a new shock cord; please, use the originally-supplied shock cord received with your knife to loop it through the drilled hole to securely fit the ferro rod loop on your sheath.  Pick up any of the Standard Ferro Rods with installed shock cord for a direct fit.
