This Standard Ferro Rod features a Brown shock cord lanyard for ease of use and to secure it, so that it's always ready when needed.

The Standard Ferrocerium Rod is designed to rain high-temperature sparks down on a fire set to help get things warmed up when in need.  It securely fits all SlicKnives sheaths that feature a ferro rod loop, so that a fire starter can be kept close at hand while in the field.

Caution - All commercially available ferro rods are coated with a protectant to prevent corrosion after they have been made.  Once the ferro rod has been scraped, the exposed iron in the rod will corrode over time when humidity or water is present.  A corroded ferro rod still works as a good fire starter, however, its rust can stain materials that are touching it accordingly. 

SlicKnives suggests storing a used ferro rod separately from our leather sheaths to protect the sheath from becoming rust stained - unless you're looking for that sort of patina.  A thin layer of petroleum jelly can help protect a used ferro rod's surface while being stored and is easy to wipe off when the ferro rod is needed to start the next fire.

SlicKnives has designed our SlipjointKnives series in the U.S. and have them made from distressed tumbled stonewashed AUS10 stainless steel by our expert knife making partners in Taiwan.  The Model Two _3.5 ^TM includes a two-hand opening 3.5” modified sheepsfoot blade and a full comfortable grip with a strong 4-position stonewashed pocket clip that will make it your go-to large EDC knife. 

The Model Two _3.5 comes super-sharp out of the box with a full flat grind and a secondary beveled edge for strength, ease of sharpening, and years of service.  We’ve included jimping along the spine of the liners under your thumb to improve handling of tough jobs and it is easy to close when putting it back in your pocket.  And since it’s made with quality stainless steel, you won’t need to worry about the edge or blade corroding at the end of the day.

Black G10 scales have been chosen to provide a tough, long-lasting grip that holds up over a day’s work, even when it gets wet.  The ergonomic grip is mounted to the Model Two _3.5 with screws for durability and includes a hole that’s ready for a lanyard or brightly colored length of paracord for improved visibility if you so choose.  Adding a Model Two _3.5 to your EDC items will prove to be one of the wisest long-term choices that you can make.
