How SlicKnives Are Made
How SlicKnives Fixed Blades Are Made
Once SlicKnives' fixed blade designs are finalized with the manufacturers’
Engineers, the knife blanks are cut from sheets of the chosen steel, the main
bevel is ground, holes for the handles are drilled, and the heat treatment is
applied to harden the steel.
After the blanks are prepared, the steel is cleaned up and polished in
preparation to accept the grip material.
The rough-cut handle scales are attached to the cleaned-up blanks
using stainless steel screws making the knife assembly
ready for shaping of the grip.
After the rough-cut scales are attached, expert craftspeople shape the grip
and sharpen the edge of the blade using multiple steps of increasingly
finer sanding belt grits to achieve the desired grip shape,
90-degree spine, and edge sharpness.
