SlicKnives’ Kepper 5 TM is part of our Premium SlicKnives series with a drop point blade profile based on Horace Kephart’s proven sheath knife that was part of his cutting tools ensemble discussed in his book, Camping and Woodcraft.  To be clear, the Kepper 5 is not intended to be a clone of Horace Kephart’s knife – we just love the blade profile that he created and this is our take on his tried and true sheath knife.

Kephart’s classic sheath knife was developed over years of perfecting it while in the field.  Our Kepper 5 embodies the proven capabilities that you expect from Kephart’s blade profile along with new features sure to make the Kepper 5 one of your favorite fixed blade knives.  Take it with you and you’ll always have a blade that gets work done!

Designed in the U.S. and hand made from Sandvik 14c28n stainless steel by our expert knife making partners in Albacete, Spain, you’ll be able to rely upon its toughness with an edge that holds up and is easy to keep sharp.  The 5” blade length and comfortable grip will make it your go-to knife for various camp chores, processing game, and making dinner after a day in the field.

The Kepper 5 comes super-sharp right out of the box with a full flat grind and a secondary beveled edge for strength and years of service.  We’ve included jimping along the spine in front of the Ricasso for positive handling during tough jobs.  Its 90-degree spine is perfect for shaving your fatwood onto your fire set prior to striking the included ferro rod to get your fire started.  And since it’s made with quality stainless steel, you won’t need to worry about the edge or blade corroding at the end of the day.

Black canvas micarta next to the full-tang blade provides a grippy, hand-sculpted foundation that’s sure to please over a day’s work, even when it gets wet.  The hand-fitted ergonomic grip is mounted to the Kepper 5 with three sets of stainless screws for durability and includes a buterola that’s ready for you to install a safety cord / lanyard or brightly colored length of paracord for improved visibility if you so choose.

You’ll love the premium black leather sheath to protect your Kepper 5 keeping it at the ready for the next task.  The quality hand-made sheath allows for vertical belt carry.  The sheath also includes a loop to carry your ferro rod that we’ve included, so that you have one close at hand when you need to build a fire quickly.

SlicKnives is positive that you’ll be happy with this quality knife – pick one up to round out your cutting tool ensemble today!

The Kepper is a Savior!

Not only is the Kepper a fantastic sheath knife, I appreciate the accessories which are provided with the purchase of the knife, and became grateful for one of them on a recent backcountry snowmobile trip. I have owned a large number of fixed blade sport, survival, and military knives, but was interested in the Kepper given its historic lineage to Horace Kephart’s sheath-knife. I’m so glad that I gave it a try. It is beautifully crafted, and you can feel the level of quality when you pick it up. While using, the weight and balance of the knife allow for great control. The tapered blade was surprisingly smooth during prep work for some St. Louis Ribs. The dangler allows for easy access to the knife regardless of what outdoor gear I’m in. Long story short, 13 miles away from the parking lot in the wilderness of Colorado my buddy sheared the right ski and suspension off of his snowmobile. I had some paracord with me, but was able to utilize the paracord provided as a lanyard with the Kepper to trail fix the snowmobile and drive it the 13 miles back to the parking lot. We would have been in trouble without this extra cordage. THANK YOU SLICKNIVES!

Kepper 5 very practical and well made knife

We were busy preparing Christmas Dinner and needed a knife for cutting up vegetables for soups and platters .
This knife works well for a general purpose kitchen work knife. Sharp thick blade with a great grip for putting pressure on vegetables.
